This is the first of this year's exhibition series to showcase the artistic work of Zakopane's contemporary artists. Anna Tarnowska Wojak, who attended the Antoni Kenar Secondary School of Fine Arts in Zakopane, mostly paints still-lifes and portraits.

Between January 19 and February 28, 2010 The Tatra Museum's main building is open also on Tuesdays from 9:00 to 17:00. The Kornel Makuszyński Museum is open longer, from 10:00 to 16:00.

"THE TIME OF THE TATRA EXPLORERS" EXHIBITION TRAVELS TO ITALY

The Tatra Museum's exhibition "The Time of the Tatra Explorers" ended in the Gallery of Art in Koziniec and reopened in Museo Nazionale della Montagna in Turin, Italy at the end of November, 2009.

THE OPENING OF THE TATRA MUSEUM'S NEW BRANCH

The official opening of the new branch of the Tatra MuseumTHE ZAKOPANE STYLE - INSPIRATIONS in a 19th century wooden house once owned by the Gąsienica Sobczak family at Droga do Rojów 6, Zakopane.

THE ZAKOPANE STYLE OF STANISŁAW WITKIEWICZ - A FASCINATING ALBUM PUBLISHED IN POLISH AND ENGLISH
|
This ground-breaking album, published by award-winning BOSZ publishing house, is written by the director of the Tatra Museum, Teresa Jabłońska, and designed by Leszek Szurkowski, with contemporary photographs by Piotr Droździk. It includes many historic photographs of the unique and influential wooden and masonry buildings conceived by the visionary Stanisław Witkiewicz in the Zakopane Style at the turn of the 19th century, as well as some very rarely seen early pictures of the Tatra mountains and the village of Zakopane (among others the first known photograph, dated 1860). This lavishly illustrated album is published in a combined Polish and English version.

OKSZA VILLA HAS BECOME THE PROPERTY OF THE TATRA MUSEUM
|
The Tatra Museum has received from State Treasury one of the oldest and finest late 19th century buildings of the Zakopane style, Oksza villa. After restoration, which is due to start soon, this unique Zakopane villa will host the Museum's extensive collection of 20th century art.
